  • GSOSW Small Craft Safety Readiness Assessment

    This is meant to be a self-assessment for you to gauge your abilities relative to what is necessary to have a successful training experience. Small Craft Safety training is a rewarding and physically demanding training that is evaluated on successful skill demonstration rather than completion. Please complete the self-assessment below before registering to help determine if you are ready to safely complete Small Craft Safety training.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED Certification

    Valid Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid/AED is a requirement to take this training.
  • I have a current, valid certification in Adult and Child/Pediatric First Aid and CPR/ AED and have submitted my certification to GSOSW.*
  • Skills Self-Assessment

    The following are skills that you will need to demonstrate at the training that are not included in the training content. Please use the questions below to gauge your abilities relative to what is necessary to have a successful training experience.
  • I can tread water without a life jacket for one minute, in full clothing.*
  • I can confidently swim 25 yards without a life jacket, in full clothing.*
  • I can confidently swim 25 yards with a life jacket, in full clothing.*
  • I can confidently demonstrate my ability to maneuver a boat (Canoe, Kayak) and teach boating skills to Girl Scouts.*
  • I understand the factors that impact maneuverability (wind, weather, current, etc.).*
  • Kayak Capacity

    GSOSW kayaks have a weight capacity of 275lbs; this is a safety requirement set by the Kayak manufacturer, and thus GSOSW is committed to upholding this safety requirement.
  • I am aware that I may not be able to earn qualification for kayaks if I do not weigh 275lbs or less.*
  • Should be Empty:
